Who we are

Hello!

We are Ruth and Mark, a couple from Ireland who have been together for 10 years and have both had journeys with health, fitness and nutrition.

We are travellers at heart and are currently living and travelling in our campervan in Canada. Fitness and travel have always been a part of our relationship; our first holiday together (three months in) was a three week trekking trip in Nepal!

Here's a bit about each of us and our journeys with fitness and food:

Mark -

I have been in the fitness world for over 10 years, starting with studying personal training in college and building a lifelong passion for movement, strength, and performance.

I’ve explored both sides of the industry, even training for a physique show, but quickly realised that extreme, restrictive approaches to nutrition weren’t sustainable (or enjoyable). That experience shaped how I coach today: with a focus on relaxed nutrition, balance, and building habits you can actually stick to for life.

Now, I am all about helping people become strong, capable, and resilient, in the gym and in everyday life. I’m especially passionate about mobility, longevity, and keeping your body strong as you age.

My training style blends HIIT training and full-body strength and conditioning and works whether you’re in a fully equipped gym or training with bodyweight while travelling.

For me, fitness is a lot more than physical results. It’s a huge part of my own mental health, and I bring that to my coaching; helping clients use exercise as a way to manage stress, build confidence, and feel stronger in body and mind.

Ruth -

A few years ago, I couldn’t fully enjoy two of the things I loved most: hiking and travelling. Hiking felt hard. Airplane seat belts dug into my waist painfully. I still did these things, but I felt held back in my own body. Then, the doctor told me I had high cholesterol and I knew something had to change.

I was surprised and disappointed because I had been unlearning  and rejecting the 'diet culture' and restrictive dieting I was used to. It was time to find an alternative middle-ground  between the restrict-binge-cycle and a 'no food rules' approach.

Since then I’ve lost over 60lbs through learning nutrition skills and finding workouts I enjoy and get me strong for my adventures.

Even more importantly I am building a body that will support a long, healthy life where I can keep doing the things I love. My focus has changed from weight loss to "how good can I feel". I have become certified as a PN Nutrition Coach and solidified my nutrition and health skills.

I’m still on this journey, it has not been quick or perfect. It’s been slow, real and messy. And that’s exactly why it works. Slow sustainable change, that happens even in the messy times of life, is how real lasting change happens.
